Data Sources

Prices, fundamentals, and financial statements come from Financial Modeling Prep, our sole market-data provider. When a data point isn't available, the affected page shows it as unavailable rather than falling back to an unlicensed source.

Filing content — including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-K exhibits, proxy materials, 20-Fs, 6-Ks, Forms 3/4/5, and structured company facts — comes directly from EDGAR, the SEC's public filing system. HexaSpex keeps accession, filing-date, form, and section provenance and respects SEC fair-access guidance.

Identity and historical context may be resolved through the Wikimedia MediaWiki API, with redirects and disambiguation pages checked before a page is accepted. We preserve the page title, canonical URL, page ID, revision ID, revision timestamp, retrieval time, and a plain-text excerpt. Wikipedia content is contextual reference material, not a substitute for company filings or management claims.

Official investor-relations pages and linked filings or presentations are used only after the company domain is verified. Discovery is bounded, robots-aware, cached, and limited to relevant HTML/PDF documents; each item retains its canonical URL, retrieval time, content hash, title, and publication date where available. IR material is labeled as a company or management claim when it is not an independently reported fact.

Recent company news comes from Financial Modeling Prep's licensed news feed and companies' own press releases. When there's nothing recent for a ticker, the news feed shows an honest empty state rather than pulling from the open web.

Earnings-call analysis uses licensed FMP transcripts or official issuer material where permitted. If lawful source material is unavailable, HexaSpex does not reproduce a transcript merely because it is publicly accessible; any quotation or summary must have an appropriate source and usage basis.

Regular market-data responses are cached briefly (normally around 30 minutes) so prices and fundamentals stay current without hitting the provider on every request. Stock Reports, transcript briefs, and other generated outputs are cached longer, with their own freshness rules. Every screen shows its source and, where relevant, a refresh time or delay notice.
